We have been desperate to play in some snow. Last fall we moved from the toasty Arizona weather to the cold Oklahoma climate and we were excited to get our “snow on.” We prematurely bought new snow pants and snow boots in preparation for the snow. Four months later, still no snow.
We traveled to the East over the holidays and wouldn’t you know it snowed there the day after we left. HA! So to scratch our snow itch we bolted to the library. We gathered all the winter related, age appropriate books. We checked out 14 books in the winter category. We created voter cards and when we finished reading all the books, the kids voted on their favorite ones. The results are in! (We had so much fun we’re sharing these voter cards free for you to download at the bottom of the page)

Only one winner here!
This energetic toddler did sit with us for most of the book readings but when it came time to choose his favorite, his heart was set on only one: “Sneezy the Snowman” by Maureen Wright.
There were so many great books that it was hard to narrow down to only one in each category. Here are a few more books we enjoyed:
“Mr. Popper’s Penguins” by Richard and Florence Atwater
“Big Snow” by Jonathan Bean
“The Snowy Day” by Ezra Jack Keats
and the entire collection of “Snowy Treasures” by Jan Brett
The next day we tapped into our artistic side and created a simple winter craft together – more on that here!
Hope you all enjoy some reading and snuggling together!
