A few years ago, our family began creating a new word for the upcoming year. A word that will be at the central focus of our prayer life.
One word. A fresh perspective. A fresh mindset. A fresh focus.
This year our word is “Renew” from Psalm 51:10
“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”
This whole verse is my prayer in itself. We have had a few transitions as a family in the past few months and we want a renewed steadfast spirit to fulfill what God has called us to.
We will not fall into the trap of a “perfectly” cropped and filtered life. We crave a heart that is pure and true and a spirit that is unwavering, firmly grounded, completely faithful, and wholly devoted. We desire that in our new setting, in a new church, and with new people. Such a spirit though can only be created and molded by the One who made it and sacrificed Himself for it in the first place, Jesus. He makes all things new.
We designed this printable and placed it in a visible spot in our house so that every time we see it, we may be reminded that we are praying for renewed hearts. (You may download and print this for your personal use as well.)
Here’s to 2019 – a renewal. I am thankful the Lord has given us a new routine, a new perspective, a new word. He has reminded us of what is important and what to let go. He is the only One who can renew and regenerate a steadfast spirit within us.
